March Air Force Base Rubber Removal

Project Type: Airfield
Client: USACE
Category: Rubber Removal
Year Initiated / Completed: 2014-2015
This was a two phase project to remove rubber deposits and re-fresh pavement markings on the runway at March ARB. Under Phase 1, Martin Brothers managed crews to remove approximately 400,000 sq. ft. of rubber from runway 32/14. This was accomplished through water blasting of the pavement in a 50 ft. wide pass on both ends of the airfield. Additionally, approximately 26,000 sq. ft. of pavement markings were painted including the entire runway centerline, arresting system marking circles and taxiway lead-in lines.
During phase two, our crews returned to remove 300,000 sq. ft. of rubber deposits from runway 32 and repeat the pavement markings that were painted during the first phase.
All work was performed during night hours.
