Year Initiated / Completed: 2015-2016
Martin Brothers Construction was contracted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to construct a Military Equipment Parking Area at Mare Island. Primary facilities included construction of a 2.65 acre (11,000 SF) MEP with compacted gravel, installation of fencing with 24 foot gate, and installation of solar security lighting. Additional work included land clearing and general site improvements. ADA accessibility was provided as well as Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection security measures for the location.
MBC constructed the unpaved aggregate parking lot based on site soil conditions. Sub-surface site preparation included stripping the top 6 inches of topsoil within the area to receive aggregate surface. The upper 12 inches of sub grade were scarified and compacted to 95 percent density.
