Travis AFB is home to the Air Force, Army, and Navy air units. The base handles more cargo and passenger traffic than any other military air terminal in the United States. Martin Brothers Construction (MBC) was awarded a contract to replace portions of the keel section of 21R/03L runway. As Prime Contractor on this project, Martin Brothers selfperformed 85% of the contract value. This project included removing and replacing aphalt up to 51/2 inches thick for a total of 4,000 tons of new asphalt placed. The work also consisted of removing and replacing four 25 ft x 25ft concrete panels at full depth (18 inches thick).
